At a Glance

Mission

CBIRT was established at the UO in 2013 as a center whose primary mission is research and training in evidence-based supports for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Research

CBIRT’s research in childhood brain injury has included studies examining school-delivered academic and social support interventions and validated practices from the field of special education that are applicable for students with TBI.

Training

A major focus of CBIRT’s work has been in professional development for educators who work with students with TBI. Lack of awareness contributes to many of the challenges of serving students with TBI.

Reach

CBIRT is viewed nationally and internationally as a respected source for information, resources, and evidence-based practices on brain injury for researchers, educators, families, and individuals with TBI.
