As we transition into the 2024-25 academic year, we want to highlight the significant growth we’ve seen in the Oregon Traumatic Brain Injury Educational Team webinar series over the past year.
CBIRT hosts webinars on a variety of topics during the school year to support educators and other professionals who serve individuals with brain injuries. For each webinar, CBIRT invites professionals and other experts to speak on topics related to brain injury. This year's series covered a range of topics, including concussion care and recovery, assistive technological tools, strategies to support students with brain injuries, justice involved youth, and how brain injury impacts the family.
This year, the TBI Team hosted 23 webinars—an impressive 77% increase from the previous year. A total of 1,835 individuals registered for the webinars, marking an increase of 632 participants from last year. These numbers reflect the hard work of the TBI Team staff and the dedication of our webinar presenters!
At the conclusion of each webinar, attendees receive a copy of the slide deck, and any resources that were shared by the presenter/s.
For anyone unable to attend, or for those wanting to view the webinar again, all webinar recordings are uploaded to the https://returntoschool.org/webinars page. From this page, the webinar recordings can easily be shared with peers. This allows everyone to access the webinars as a resource to support them as they work within their professions and interact with individuals who have been impacted by brain injury.
Attendees have the option to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of each webinar. CBIRT uses the feedback to improve the webinars and to ensure we are aligned with the needs of our target audience. Attendees also have the opportunity to suggest topics and professionals to present in future webinars.
This year's feedback results revealed that over 82% of respondents rated the overall quality of the webinars as high! We greatly appreciate the comments we receive from attendees. Here are a few of their remarks:
“This was a great discussion and there are so many resources I was unaware of. Thank you for allowing us to talk with Dr. Herring. I appreciate his experience and take on also considering a student athlete's autonomy in this process. I'm going to be taking my notes from this to our high school and help our Athletic Trainer advocate for some assistance and clarification in this area.”

“I love ALL of your workshops. If I cannot attend the original because of being called away, I watch the recordings” From: “Return to Learn After Concussion: A Canadian Perspective.”
The TBI Team webinar series is just one way that CBIRT continues to contribute to the important work being done around brain injury.
