CBIRT is working with Washington to create an integrated statewide approach to brain injury that brings together support groups, community integration activities, peer-to-peer mentoring, and a secure digital platform that connects it all. Through this model, participants can access regular support groups, receive one-on-one guidance from trained mentors with lived experience, and take part in community-based education and connection opportunities.
CBIRT provides the infrastructure for the services by developing curricula, training, and supervising local facilitators and mentors; managing outreach; tracking outcomes; and ensuring quality. CBIRT research and real-time data will inform practice, guide decision making, identify unmet needs, and strengthen services over time. With 32 years of TBI-focused research and training, strong Washington partnerships, and a commitment to rural, Tribal, immigrant, and historically underserved communities, CBIRT is working to build a sustainable support system.
